[net.chess] tough chess position

plw@panda.UUCP (Pete Williamson) (05/01/85)

Here's a board position that was shown to me approximately fifteen

years ago. I do not know the origins of this, though it supposedly

came from tournament play in the nineteenth century. Perhaps someone

out in Net.Land knows more.

I'll present it the way it was presented to me:

"Here's the position.", he said. "Look at it for half an hour. You

may select to play White or Black and I'll play against you. Five dollars

to the winner."

This is a fairly provocative wager because this is an end-game position !!

White King at A8 Black King at D5

White Knight at A7 Black Pawn at A3

White Pawn at C2 Black Pawn at D4

	White Pawn at D2

White Bishop at H4 It is White's Move !!

Hope you have some fun with this !!
