I have a problem with my old tape deck. I was cleaning the
pinch roller with a cotton swab (part of the nagaoka tape cleaning
kit) and some of the cotton started winding around the roller.
Now, the strange thing about this is that the tape deck broke.
the carriage that the tape heads are on went down about half way
(I had the play switch on while cleaning, as is recommended by
the manufacturer) and then stopped. So I pushed stop but it
didn't go down all the way (such as when you hit stop from play).
so I then pushed it down. Now, when I hit play, the damn machine
makes a 'click' but the carriage doesn't rise and nothing happens.
As I mentioned, it's my old tape deck but I recently sold it,
so the new owner is justifiably a little peaved at me breaking it.
By the way, the controls are solinoid if that helps.
I'd appreciate any suggestions or help that anybody has....
