This christmass I'll be buying myself a CD player because I've been such a good boy all year. :-) Also, disk prices are getting to reasonable levels and supplies... At any rate .. I'm looking for recomendations .. I like listening to jazz and good rock (no, I can't define good, zappa, beatles, chicago, etc). But I might get into classical if I had something as good as a CD to play them back on. My system is based around a Sony AV/560 receiver. This is one of their new units that has video inputs. And works real well with my Sanyo VCR. It has a Dynamic Headroom (according to SR) of 2.6, so that's not a problem. Also, it's 60 watts. The playing room is very small, and has an upstairs neighbor that doesn't really appreciate loud music. I'd like for the CD to work in conjunction with the centralized remote control that the receiver has. So that probably means a Sony CD player. One recommendation I've seen on here is to buy the cheapest unit you can find and use that for awhile. That way you aren't out too much money if you decide you don't like the things. Is this a really valid recommendation?
