To anyone interested, I hear that I am about to receive my CD player which was ordered back in May. I am intrigued by a warning I received: Things can go wrong if I don't keep the machine level when dealing with the set screw mechanism (after unpacking it). I will receive the beast within the next few days, so I guess I'll find out the exact procedure, but I hear that the manual says nothing about keeping the machine level. Does anyone have any experience/expertise to share in the unpacking of a CD player? A while back, there was some discussion about removing the transit screws from Sony (I believe) CD players and how the procedure differed slightly from that described in the manual. Having just acquired one, I would appreciate anyone with knowledge about the information I seek either sending me mail about the procedure or re-posting to net.audio.
