[net.chess] Chess Programmer's Challenge

art@denelvx.UUCP (Art Coleman) (06/08/85)

DO YOU HAVE A CHESS PROGRAM?

				   OR

HAVE YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO WRITE A CHESS PROGRAM?

AND WANT TO PUT IT ON A SUPER COMPUTER?

Denelcor, Inc. of Aurora, Colorado is making time available on our HEP-H1000
Parallel Architecture Super Computer for a limited number of people who are
serious about playing computer chess at national and international levels
of competition.

The HEP-H100 is a MIMD non-Von Neuman class multi-processor machine that
allows simultaneous execution of up to 50 instruction streams (PSW's) in
parallel per processor. An instruction stream is defined as the sequential
execution of a process as you would see on a PC, VAX, or CRAY-1. Each
processor executes at a 16 MIPS rate. Development will be done on a mix of
1 - 2 processor configurations with competition most likely run on a 4
processor configuration, that is on a 72 MIPS, 200 PSW machine. The PSW's
can each be applied to a different job/unix process or all applied to a
single unix process. For example, all 10 steps in a 10-step pipeline could
be in simultaneous execution at the same time, as opposed to taking turns
executing on the single stream processor.

The operating system is a System III UNIX with a Berkeley file system
flavor. File system space is not overwhelming, but should be adequate.
Communications can be through an in-house INTERLAN Ethernet network with
Dmodem or CompuServe dial-in capabilities.

Your costs will consist of the time commitment, getting here for
consultation (if necessary), and any long distance/CompuServe charges.
The machines will be available outside of the normal working hours.

Denelcor Inc. will cover the costs for selected tournaments.

Anyone interested in this opportunity please let me know by E-mail.
