The next world microcomputer chess championship is to be held in Amsterdam from the 7th - 15th Sept. 1985, possibly in conjunction with the opening of a new World Trade Centre. My copy of the provisional draft of the announcement states: "The participants in the eight-round Swiss style tournament are chess programs whose playing codes are executed by a single available one-chip microprocessor and personal computer system, but no bit-slice machines. Participating teams are expected to bring their own hardware which must be present in the tournament hall." I understand that there are two groups of participants A. Commercial programs (expect about 28 entries) for which the entry fee is $500 (US) for each computer, and B. Amateur programs (expect about 12 entries) for which no entry fee is levied.
