Sorry folks, but having seen 3 references in as many days to another
division of my company with the *wrong spelling*, I feel obliged to put the
record straight (pun partially intended).

Repeat after me: P H I L I P S

We are *not* affiliated to any oil company, but are the 28th largest
corporation in the world, the *only* serious competitor of the Japanese in
the consumer audio/video markets, and the initial developers of, amongst
many other things, the audio cassette and the laser disk.

The company is Dutch owned.

Outside North America, Philips is a household name, (stay in any hotel in
Holland, and *every* piece of electrical and electronic equipment in the
room, from the outlets to the telephones, will be Philips made).

Within North America, for various reasons, most Philips products are sold
under other names, viz:

Signetics, Magnavox, Norelco, Sylvania, Westinghouse (light bulbs), Polygram
etc, etc.
