I recently purchased the service manual for my Sony CDP-302 (the same manual also covers the CDP-520ES) and found that it would be trivial to add a digital input/output connection to the player. The D-to-A converter is in its own package, and it should be possible to intercept the digital stream for external use or to feed in an externally-sourced stream for conversion by the CDP's D-to-A. The manual also has a little information about the command codes that the "Master Control" chip sends to the "Mechanism Control" chip. It might be possible to add your own external controller if you want to be able to program more than 16 tracks or to implement other features. The manual costs $4.00 plus shipping and is available from the Sony parts depot in Kansas. I don't have the exact address on me, but you can get it by calling Sony's information number: 800-222-7669. I had my copy within a week of mailing my personal check. Bill
