I plan on buying a pre-amplifier and amplifier for under $500 - I don't know enough to care if they are integrated or not. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. I have Polk Audio SDA-CRS speakers and a SONY 520ES compact disk player. I would also like to understand some terms that NAD and KENWOOD brochures have thrown at me. What are the relationships, if any, between dynamic power as measured by the EIA dynamic test signal, IHF dynamic power, and IHF dynamic headroom. Also what is damping factor (ref. 8 ohms at 50HZ) a measure of and what is the current theory on the effects of the damping factor. KENWOOD advertises a damping factor of 1,000; NAD advertises 50 for their amps. I would assume that a factor of 20 between the two should affect sound quality differences if damping, what ever is being damped, has any sonic effect. Thank-you in advance. __________________________________ Peter Reed (homxb!rabbit) _____________ The centipede was happy, quite Until the toad in fun Said "Pray which leg goes after which?"
