Thanks to the the people that gave me headphone recomendations! I ended up getting a pair of Stax SR-5's. They sound really nice, except for one thing: excessive sibilance. Now, I truly doubt that the problem lies in the Stax headphones, because I also have excessive sibilence with my speakers. I don't however have excessive sibilance when I use my Sony MDR-7's (which the use the normal headphone jack -- the Stax connect to the speaker outputs). So I suspect that the problem is in the power amplifier section of my Onkyo A-7070 integrated amp. The problem exists with CDs as well as records so it's not a misaligned cartridge or resonating tonearm. Does anything have any more ideas about this? Can it be fixed or do I just have to throw out my amplifier and get a new one or buy Stax's special headphone amp? Sigh. Kate Bush is just too demanding on my poor little stereo, but someday I'll hear her in high fidelity. Someday. -Doug Alan nessus@mit-eddie.UUCP (or ARPA)
