Recently I have started having some unwelcome sounds coming from my speakers (Magnaplanar [SMG]) when I am using my turntable (Dual). It is not feedback, (at least I don't think it is) and is a quite loud hummm, generally towards the end of the album, most notably when the tone arm lifts off of the record and shuts off. The sound then becomes worse. Turning the receiver (NAD 7020) power off, and then turning it back on gets rid of it. I don't have the problem with either the radio or the reel to reel. This doesn't occur with every album I play, it is somewhat sporatic. This problem manifested itself after I moved cross country. I had problems getting the tone arm to track properly when setting the system up, which leads me to believe that the problem is in the turntable and not the receiver. Before spending megabucks on repairs, I was wondering if anyone could suggest some possibly simple fixes and/or tests to determine what the problem is.
