Just to help YOU out a little, the inclusion of the original in the followup was a feature added to bnews 2.10.2 (i.e. very recently). The implementors thought that USENET posters would be intelligent and thoughtful enough to edit the article down before posting the followup. That was clearly one of the largest miscalculations in the history of USENET. I just hope this misused feature is not in bnews 2.10.3. > I personally find it more annoying not to know which article > is bbeing referenced than to hit the space bar once or twice This is not just a question of convenience. Every day hundreds of USENET administrators all over this country (and the world) struggle to keep USENET going. The cost in phone bills and disk storage is staggering. Justification for allocating these resources is very tenuous. Several of our USENET partners do not get net.audio and many other groups at all. Others are forced to expire articles prematurely. If you cannot find referenced articles, perhaps this is what's happening at your site. -- James Lee Johnson, U.T.
