[net.audio] Rare capacitor wanted

ugzannin@sunybcs.UUCP (Adrian Zannin) (12/09/85)

I have been looking around everywhere I can possibly think of for a
certain capacitor, and I haven't been able to find it. I decided to post to
the net and hope that someone out there either has one or can lead me to
a place where I can get one.
Here is a description of what I am looking for:

A cylindrical electrolytic capacitor with the following characteristics:
         360VDC
         440uF
physical dimensions: (can be slightly smaller, but NOT larger)
         diameter: 1 inch
         length : 2.5 inches

I have tried all the electronic outlets in my area and even called the
manufacturer of the piece of equipment that I am trying to repair, and nobody
seems to be able to come up with one.
I know I posted this using 'world' distribution. Since the piece of
equipment I have is made of all German parts, I figured that someone in
Europe might be able to get one. If you can locate one, please reply via
e-mail so I can make shipping arrangements with you (if necessary). Thanks...

This can't be hard to find. You haven't specified enough about the
capacitor, but probably a regular Mallory TCW or FP would serve.
Note that slightly greater working voltage and/or capacity would
probably not hurt (e.g. 450uF@400WVDC). If aluminum capacitors are
too big, then try tantalum.
