I read some of the audio dealer magazines, and one of their oft-stated "hints" to retailers is that, while price competition from the mail-order and discount houses will drive down what they can ask for hi-fi and video components, they can usually get full markup on accessories, and should push these in order to help make up for low profit margins on major items. Now, as a consumer, I have just the opposite interest, of course. I want to get accessories (cables, cleaners, assorted doo-dads and add-ons) at deep discounts. However, it seems that most mail-order places, if they handle accessories at all (and then usually only Discwasher and maybe some Audio-Technica stuff), follow the same approach, and do not price this stuff very low. So, does anyone out there have experience with any good mail-order sources for discounted hi-fi and video accessories? If so, please post or mail comments and recommendations.
