I hate to be argumentative on net.audio, but...

"(In March 1984) RIAA released sales figures for 1983 which
show that, for the first time ever, cassettes outsold LPs
(53 percent - 47 percent). A week later it is revealed that
cassette costs (68 cents, finished) have fallen below album
	costs (78 cents, finished)."
		- Dave Marsh, The First Rock & Roll Confidential Report

I suspect that this trend has continued (and probably increased)
through 1984 and 1985. It is no longer a surprise to find more
material (extra songs or extended versions) on cassette and CD
versions of albums than on the LP.
The CD share of the market will also surpass the LP. The only
question is when.
