I'm considering buying a Fidelity Elite A/S Chess Computer, which lists
at $450. I'd like to find out what a good price for the Elite A/S is,
and where I might purchase it. (About two years ago, I saw an ad in Chess
Life for a large mail-order house (located in New York?) with very good
prices on many products. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the
company.
I'm not up to the level of a club player, and I'm looking for a chess computer
for casual, recreational use. I find the following Elite A/S features to be
particularly interesting:
- "AutoSensory" (i.e. moving a piece on the board notifies the
computer of the move. "Sensory" boards require
that the piece be pressed against the board at
the "from" and "to" squares.)
- chess clock
- wooden board and pieces
- rating between 1900 and 2000
I hope that a machine of this quality will play a fairly varied ("human")
game, with no obvious idiosyncracies. Any opinions?
If you have specific knowledge or suggestions (or want to sell a used
Elite?), please respond by mail.
Thanks All.
