[net.audio] help wanted for purchasing receiver

Hello everybody....i am new to this net....and i do
not intend to get involved in long arguments like...LPs vs CDs...
etc.....as a matter of fact i am not really an audiophile....but i
like music....and i want some friendly advice from some knowledgeable persons on this net.....
I am looking for a receiver .....not a very expensive one..
in fact at one stage i had my eyes set on TECHNICS SA-460 receiver
primarily because it is cheap and has a lot of features like TV sound etc...
however later on i realized that so many features at so less a price ($200)..
the sound might not be very good and specially the FM tuner may not have a
good stereo separation and the amplifier section a flat frequency response...
does anyone have any first hand experience with this sort of receiver????
could anyone of you suggest me any brand of receiver that might cost
less than say $250 yet have a decent FM tuner (say on the average stereo
separation of 45 db) and a flat frequency response in the amplifier section?
I am not really bothered about continuous power ratings (even 20 watts would
be fine for me)...and neither about features...the only features i possibly look
for is facility for tape dubbing and VCR playback (sound)...... the most important thing however is that IT MUST SOUND GOOD....... please advice me..
or should i instead buy amplifier and tuner separate....????? I am
currently getting a deal for $140 for a ROTEL amplifier ,20 watts.
