After a longish wait (so it seemed), I now have my BSR 15 inch sub woofer back. The first speaker developed a bad voice coil while I was driving it with a $135 Sony STR-VX250 receiver rated something like 20 watts/ch. The new woofer seems to be hanging in there, however I haven't tried the Denon Technical CD on it yet. For $100 I really didn't expect something totally awesome, even after reading the DAK ad. The computer room system has a pair of "Graphyx" 2-way speakers (5 inch woofers) on the wall directly above the programming desk. This is a pathological setup to say the least, but a 10-band EQ helps somewhat. Because of the speaker placement, it would be unfair to judge the setup with the subwoofer added on anything but a before and after basis (like the diet ads!). The bottom line is, I have been playing every one of my pipe organ CD's on the system since adding the sub woofer. The sub woofer adds an octave or two on the bottom, and filters some of the bass energy from the other speakers. The BSR sits under a corner of the desk which would otherwise be quite wasted except for the cat. The cat doesn't mind however, she now has a secret hideout on top of the sub woofer. The sub woofer works well enough to earn its $100 (plus $14 shipping).
