I have been researching the cost of VR triple modems. The best price I can come up with is Anderson Jacobson's: 1-4 $1549.31 5-10 $1471.84 11-15 $1394.38 25-50 $1316.91 More than 50 would be cheaper still, but I dont really expect that sort of response. All prices are in CANADIAN dollars, include duty and FST, but dont include the 7% PST. (the salesperson was unsure whether it applied to the before or after bulk discount price, which is why I didnt include it). I dont know about educational discounts...I forgot to ask. Anderson Jacobson makes RV modems for Vadic, and have decided that it is worth their while to come out with their own competative product. I havent seen one, nor their technical manual, but the AJ modem is believed to be rather much like the RV one. It can tone dial, though, not pulse only like the RV modem. There is no autodialer as of yet, but one is going to be released soon. AJ will upgrade your AJ modem for $50 to an auto-diler, or for $20 will sell you a kit to do it yourself. It is supposed to store phone numbers in some way that the salesperson could not describe to me. I am interested in seeing how much interest there is out there, so that a modem buying group could be organized. In the interest of easy communication (read quickly being able to bludgeon any promised-but-didnt-pay persons) I think that it would be best to confine the modem group to the Toronto Area. (sorry waterloo). There is an additional 1.5% discount if the money is prepaid. I am interested in doing this *quickly*, so any interested people should contact me as quickly as they can. the Anderson Jacobson phone number is (416) 475-5510, and they are in Unionville.
