Although the grass has broken through the snow in patches only, and the winter is far from over in Southern Ontario, I have seen at least a dozen robins on several occassions during the past week in the Toronto area. I have never noticed robins here this early in the year before. Have others in south-eastern Canada observed an unusually early migration this year?

> Have others in south-eastern Canada observed > an unusually early migration this year? It has been more than +20 F warmer than the norm along most of the east coast during the last 1.5 weeks. Here is Central N.J. I have noticed many robins lately, and just moments when I looked out my kitchen window there were two in the birdbath. Perhaps they are confused about the warm weather down here. Whatever the reason, I really like seeing them back again! -- Phyllis Eve Bregman CSRI, Univ. of Toronto {decvax,linus,ihnp4,uw-beaver,allegra,utzoo}!utcsri!phyllis CSNET: phyllis@toronto

For those in net.rec.birds, maybe this may be something to discuss. How is it in other parts of the continent for early arrivals. For those in Ontario, see the Sports pages of February 27, Globe and Mail for a good rundown on other early arrivals in Southern Ontario. Sincerely yours, DAVE BROWN
