This is a request to all College and University students in Ontario to help the sport of Tenpin bowling become more fully developed in Canada, as it is in the states. Recently I had the pleasure of meeting one of the main organizers of the United States College and University bowling program. He suggested to me that if enough interested people could be brought together to form a leauge in Canada, they would be a welcome addition to the US College circuit. Since tenpin bowling is now an exhibition sport in the 1988 olympics and will be a full medal sport in 1992 there is a need for Canadians to support this type of program. What we are looking for now is to have a few Colleges or Universities set up some teams for some friendly competition. Tournaments will be formatted as invitationals, where any school that can put together a team and get to the tournament site will be welcomed. These teams should be made up of five bowlers (of any skill level to start with), either all-male, all-female or mixed. Initially we can run these tournaments with handicap, thus the lower average bowlers will not be at any disadvantage. If there is enough interest we can split off into a handicap division and a scratch division. If you are interested, or you know anyone that might be interested, please contact me by e-mail. As soon as I have enough response I can set up the first tournament. --- Kevin Picott, or in real life: UUCP: watmath!watcgl!kppicott CSNET: kppicott%watcgl@waterloo.CSNET ARPA: kppicott%watcgl%waterloo@csnet-relay.CSNET SNAIL: Home Residence 516 Scarlett Crescent E6 Rm 115, V1, U. of Waterloo Burlington, Ontario Waterloo, Ontario L7L 5M2 N2J 4B6 (416) 637-1721 (519) 884-5786
