For sale: GRiD Compass II laptop computer system, with peripherals and software. GRiD 1121 Compass II Laptop Computer - 8086 with 8087 math coprocessor - 256K RAM - up to 512K ROM - bit-mapped electroluminescent flat panel display (80 x 25 characters) - selectable fonts - 384K non-volatile bubble memory disk - RS232C port - IEEE-488 (GPIB) interface - builtin battery-backed clock/calendar - builtin 300/1200 bps modem - with carrying case External 10 megabyte hard disk with 5-1/4" floppy External portable 5-1/4" floppy Software: - GRiD/OS (in ROM) - GRiD VT100 terminal emulator (in ROM) - GRiD Management Tools: spreadsheet, word processor, graphics package, data base and file manager. - MS-DOS 2.11 C (revised Jan 1987) Asking $1100 for the lot, somewhat negotiable. Everything comes with documentation (although I don't have any hardware references). For those unfamiliar with the GRiD name, GRiD is an American company that specializes in laptop computers, and markets them directly. The Compass was their first model. The Compass is not PC-compatible, although it will run well-behaved MS-DOS software, and certain programs have versions designed specifically for the Compass. For example, I have tested that MASM 5.0 and MSC 3.0 run fine, and I have Compass-specific versions of Kermit 2.30 and MicroEmacs 3.9e which work with no trouble.
