It is too bad that some people felt that the ABCDE puzzle was too trivial to post, but I'm afraid that if I posted a harder problem I would quickly lose the attention of the hard-core hackers. As was recognized by ...alice!npoiv!npois!cbosgd!nscs!jpj, the problem was intended to get people thinking, *not* to be a race to see who can finish first. Someone did think, and generalized the answer to fit any number of digits. I for one would rather see so called *trivial* problems rather than none at all. Rolf Anderson ...teklabs!tekid!rolf
