A number of people have been griping about how society should not have to pay the medical bills incurred by speeders who injure themselves. Why not extend this to smokers -- why should I pay for some silly person who insists on asphyxiating himself when he goes for a lung operation? Or people who work in chemical labs who expose themselves to carcinogens? Or computer geeks who absorb X-rays and various other wonderful elements of the electromagnetic spectrum? I don't think you can use that argument for speeders, because speeders may not be responsible for their accidents, whereas smokers are definitely responsible for the sad state of their lungs. Speeders are not necessarily the dangerous drivers. -- Kim Nguyen kim@watsup.waterloo.edu Systems Design Engineering -- University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
