The Lewis/Paley computing complex is pleased to announce the addition
of new computing capacity, bring the total number of CPU's up to
three. Weighing in at 7 pounds 8 oz, the Lewis-Paley Mk I central
processing unit, "male" model (serial number "Gregory Andrew Lewis-Paley"),
was successfully IPL'd after the usual 9 month manufacturing period.
Except for the occasional core dump of unappetizing programs, the new
CPU has been gen'd with the latest "Expert System Software" which is
now being put through its preliminary paces.
Complete with all standard peripherals, and functions, the new processing
unit is the latest in modern technology, and is expected to be in service
well into the 21st century.
The two existing processing units were utilized in the IPL, and are
running at reduced capacity until field service can effect much needed
repairs to worn parts.
