Former Indian activist Robert Satiacum was ordered deported to the
United States yesterday, but Canadian Immigration officials say
his departure may be delayed if he has to serve a jail sentence.
Mr. Satiacum won political asylum in Canada two years ago - the only
U.S. citizen to be granted such status.
Four hours before the deportation order was issued, Mr. Satiacum, 60,
was convicted of fondling a 10 year old girl. He is to be sentenced
November 17.
