[ont.general] Wanted: a book on writing your own will

23031_676@uwovax.uwo.ca (12/31/89)

Can anyone recommend an up-to-date guide on writing your own will (in
Ontario)? Some of the older packets and guides available in bookstores leave
something to be desired. For example, a relative followed one of them, got the
will witnessed and signed per the guide, and the lawyer, upon her death, then
insisted on having the witnesses fill out a new affidavit attesting to the fact
that they had witnessed and signed the will! Perhaps he was gilding the lilly
to make it appear that a lawyer is necessary, but if he was correct, the book I
read said nothing about the requirement of an affidavit above and beyone the
usual signature and date on the will. In any case, I look forward to any
information about good printed sources.
