Can anyone offer an explanation as to why the material for the Boston USENIX completely ignored the question of other hotels at reasonable prices? I found the hotel list for the Santa Monica meeting quite useful for someone travelling on government per diem ($75 MAX for room & board combined, and that's in high cost areas). The room rates at the Copley Plaza or the Sheraton make them totally useless with such a funding limit. I had to spend a couple hours at activity and public libraries, looking up hotels and checking a map, until I found some reasonable ones. (I have reservations at the Hotel Essex at $35 -- I hope it isn't TOO bad!) A simple list of nearby hotls and rates and a more meaningful map than the the one given, which just pushes the expensive hotels, would have been appreciated. If it was done for Santa Monica, it could have been done for this. Anybody in authority reading this, please make such a hotel price list MANDATORY for all future USENIX meeting arrangers!
