The best proof that .999... = 1 is that there are no other numbers between .999... and 1 . Since there are an infinite number of numbers between any two different numbers, .999... and 1 must be the same number. Once I actually converted a skeptic with this argument. Lew Mammel, Jr. ihuxr!lew
