Greetings. I've continued to investigate the issues surrounding the re-establishment of regional technical meetings, much as we used to have in the "old days". So, now it's time for an opinion poll. Assuming that a "West Coast" meeting was announced (range from Washington State to San Diego to Salt Lake City or so), how many of you would be interested in attending? The meeting would probably be held either in Los Angeles or the Bay Area, and would be technical ONLY -- no booths, sales pitches or other similar activities. This would NOT be a "fancy" event. Cost would be the absolute minimum to get some space, and it would be strongly recommended that only technical personnel attend. Basically, this would be a meeting to present interesting technical topics, chat, and try to accomplish something useful without being treated like cattle. I would probably be organizing this meeting, hopefully with some minor financial backing from Usenix. I'd like to make such meetings a regular part of our agenda into the future -- regardless of what the national meetings end up doing. Anybody interested? Please reply by direct MAIL. Thanks much. --Lauren-- {allegra, decvax, harpo, ihnp4, seismo, randvax}!vortex!lauren
