[net.music] Patrick Moraz, Alphonse Mouzon, Steps Ahead, Sting

I've only heard "I" a couple of times, but what I remember
was that I loved it. With Jeff Berlin playing bass
and Alphonse Mouzon on drums (I don't think they played
on both sides and maybe not even together), ya can't miss.
By the way, I read somewhere that Jeff Berlin thought
that Moraz over-overdubbed the keyboards. I wouldn't doubt
it.

By the way, does anybody know of the 11th House reunion that
was supposed to happen with Coryell and Mouzon and who knows
who else.

Also, has anyone seen the new incarnation of Steps Ahead.
I couldn't make the concert at Summerfest.
I spoke to Peter Erskine a couple of weeks ago (he was
in town playing with John Abercrombie) and he
said that Victor Bailey of Weather Report was playing bass
and that they hadn't found a drummer yet.
He also said that the Jane Fonda workout record that Steps Ahead
was suggested by the record company pricks and that it pays the
bills and that he wishes it was anonimous.

By the way, I just got 2 Japanese imports of Steps: Paradox
with Erskine on drums and Step by Step with Steve Gadd on drums.
Erskine's a great drummer, but he doesn't come anywhere close to
Gadd's performance.
"Leprechan's Dream" on Chick Corea's album is some of the most
incredible drumming ever.

Sting's got an outrageous jazz band. Does anyone know if the bass
player, Darryl "The Munch" Jones, who also plays with Miles,
is the same Darryl Jones who went to school at Southern Illinois
Univ. at Carbondale a few years ago.
A musician friend of mine claims that at the time, he was just
a funk player.
