[net.usenix] BOF/Evening schedules for Usenix?

chuqui@nsc.UUCP (Chuqui Q. Koala) (01/12/85)

I'm making an attempt at figuring out what I need to be at while I'm at
Usenix. Does anyone have a preliminary schedule of BOF's or other evening
activities that I could use as a starting place at figuring out what is
going to be going on during the time the REAL work is happening (meaning,
of course, after hours)? Or should I plan in bringing a few good books
along? *grin*

Do not wait until tomorrow to tell someone you care. Tomorrow doesn't
always come.

Anyone know about how to schedule a BOF?
I'd *really* like to see a 2.9 BOF, anyone
interested, is there going to be one?

As being a Christian I cannot tell you about nightclubs and so on. In general
the Dallas area is pretty poor to enjoy yourself. It is probably one of the
worst towns in the whole world to that respect (I am from Amsterdam NL).
There is a fairly good museum, really worthwhile going to. Also there is a
nice farmers market downtown, I don't know what it is in winter, but in the
summer they have foulk music sometimes there. There is a parc setup for the
Texas Fair, with the Cotton Bowl in there. The Dallas Cowboys Footballstadium
is far out of the way. It might be a good advice if you want to enjoy yourself
to rent a car. Also there is virtually no nature, no woods, no nothing.
Southern Methodist University is in the neighborhood of the conference
with a probably good library.

Please note that we have rescheduled the Distributed Computing
BOF to WEDNESDAY night, January 23, from 7-9pm in the Gold room
of the Fairmont Hotel. In addition to Tom Truscott, Ray Essick,
and Doug Comer, Chuq Von Rospach will be discussing distributed
net news, and Doug Kingston will talk about Remote Procedure Calls.

If others would like to participate, please contact Bob Warren or
Tom Truscott at the Sheraton Dallas, or on the message board.

Hope to see you there!
