[net.music] Jon Anderson's Lyrics

NO NO NO!! There you've done it again. Anderson's lyrics are
impressionistic, sometimes detached, sometimes incomprehensible, sometimes
plainly wrong, but they always have considerable meaning, and often
amazingly poignant ways of looking at familiar things in new ways
(consider the title to the song "Outside of This (Inside of That)", a
rather explicit love song, for an example).

Try listening to his "Short Stories" album (with Vangelis), where he dealt
with more familiar subjects. I think the love songs on "Short Stories"
are some of the best ever written... certainly a vast improvement over the
"hey baby lets do it" lyrics of most musicians.

But there aren't very many of his songs where the meaning is not apparent
with some consideration (and punctuation)... "Siberian Khatru" excepted,
maybe...
