According to Rich Banner (who is president of the games manufactures association) and some other GDW people SPI knew it was going under probably since the summer 81. They were holding out and hoping for a miricle. They ended up about 1 million in debt. TSR had loaned lots of money to SPI and when SPI defaulted took over the company. At that point SPI consisted of titles to games the designers having taken off for other places (Avalon Hill and a new company). About forty of the SPI titles it turns out were owned by their designers and not the company and exSPI games produced by Avalon Hill are these games. TSR plans to continue to produce the games to get some of its money back, but it looks as if magazine subscriptions are lost. Cheerio; Tom Harris ihldt!tmh
