After seeing the news articles on Ace of Aces some people here at Stony Brook ran over to the nearest game shop and purchased both the Powerhouse series and the Rotary series. We have found the game to be quite interesting and entertaining. We have been dueling under the rules of the intermediate game and are working up the courage to try the advanced game. We are proud to report the existence of a German Ace named Lothar Dernhelm with 8.5 kills. We are looking for other Ace of Aces players who might be interested in playing by mail, comparing war stories, and exchanging advice. One question we would like to put forth immediately is: Do the more experienced players reccommend using the advanced rules or is the general consensus that the beginning game is so much fun why pollute the play with more rules? We propose the following method for playing by mail: Each player sends his move in "crypt" format. Upon receipt of the other player's message, the first player sends the key. This should obviate the temptation to peek at the opposing player's move while pondering your own next move. BUT - are there differences in "crypt" from site to site? AND, is it possible to decrypt a message into two nondistinct plain texts. perry s. kivolowitz allegra!sbcs!perry perry@suny-sbcs
