[net.games] Backgammon and gammon - definitions, please.

stanwyck@ihuxr.UUCP (10/27/83)

Would someone (and please, only one on the net, the rest by mail) please
define exactly what is ment be "gammon" and "backgammon". I am a backgammon
player of several years, but neither I nor the people I play with are sure
of what is menat by these terms.

Guess: From the context of things I have seen, the meanings are.......

gammon : to complete getting your pieces off the board while
the opponent still has pieces not in his/her home
		 board.

backgammon : to complete getting your pieces off the board before
your opponent removes any pieces from the board.

Are these correct?
