I have a problem with a Atari Model 2600 on the left plug in, can anyone shed any light in the problem it won't fire. please send comments to D.L. Butlett ixlpa!aquarius

That problem with the left controller of the Atari 2600 losing its fire-button control (or worse) has turned up in *every one* of my friends' 2600s I have played, that's three in all. This is one reason I bought an Intellivision instead. (It has other problems though which I won't go into now.) For what little it's worth, I've found that a careful wiggle of the controller's plug can temporarily restore the missing function, *provided* that one is careful not to pull on the cord while playing. You may have a tendency (I do) to yank the controller around in imitation of the desired on-screen result. (NNNgggghh! RRRrr! ohNOOOOO!) Pulling on the cord is probably why it poops out in the first place. I don't know any reliable solution to the problem. Charles J. Poirier
