[net.games] sail - is it ever portable!

mr-frog@sdcsvax.UUCP (11/30/83)

I just wanted to commend the authors of "sail" - the computer
version of "Wooden Ships and Iron Men" - on their excellent
job done in the area of portability. Not only is the game
nicely done, but it's portable too!

I was moving sail to a 68000 micro running TRS-XENIX 1.3 which
(for those of you who haven't had the "pleasure" of working with
this OS) is like stripped-down version 7 system.

Well anyhow, I moved the thing over and all I had to change was
the signal(SIGCHLD, ...) interrupt handler since TRS-XENIX doesn't
support SIGCHLD signals. The moment I took it out, sail compiled
perfectly and ran the first time. It's even more impressive considering
the amount of code involved - about 4400 lines!

Thanks again to the authors of sail.

Where, pray tell, does one go to get a copy of Sail?
