[net.games] Hints wanted for some Infocom games: Deadline, Starcross, ...

Can anyone help me with some questions about Deadline, Starcross and
Zork I?  I'm willing to trade with clues from these and Witness, and
others as I compulsively race out to buy them.

In Starcross, how does one take the red rod away from the rat-ants?
Also, how does one control the ship?  The only control I can get is
the viewer.

In Deadline, is there/how does one enter a secret room behind the closet,
or off the study, or behind the mirror, or wherever it is?  Failing this,
where does one obtain the evidence to expose the blackmail threat that
led to the first murder?

Finally, in Zork I, how does one solidify the rainbow (I know how in
Unix/DECUS Zork, but this doesn't seem to be the same)?  What is the
purpose of the water bottle in Zork I?  How do Zorks II and III fit in
to the DECUS Zork framework?  Are they also just more-or-less fragments?
