	Backgammon Books in Brief

	The following books if read in the recommended sequence
	properly compliment one another and will dramatically aid
	the backgammon learning process.

	Note: Backgammon books are higher in price because of
	      low volume.

	1) THE BACKGAMMON BOOK by Osward Jacoby/Crawford
	   Truly the "Bible of Backgammon".  Recommended for any
	   player who has not read a book on backgammon.  This
	   treatise is the foundation for all good play in the
	   game.  Although conservative in its approach to game
	   strategy, one should digest this material before reading
	   about aggressive play. (Paperback - A Bantam Book ~ $3.50)

	2) BACKGAMMON by Paul Magriel
	   By far the most complete book on the game.  A must for
	   the serious minded backgammon enthusiasts.  It carefully
	   explains the game's basic concepts, ideas and strategic
	   principles. (Hardback - Times Books ~ $20.00) 400 pages

	3) THE BACKGAMMON QUIZ BOOK by Prince Joli Kansil
	   112 Quizzes with answers for players of all skill levels.
	   This book is best used by doing the quizzes from time
	   to time as you develope your game.

	4) PARADOXES and PROBABILITIES by Barclay Cooke
	   Backgammon workbook of 168 challenging problems for
	   everyone from novice to expert.
	   (Hardback - Random House ~ $9.00) 184 pages

	Now if you get this far and still want more, backgammon
	has become more than a game.  The rest of the books listed
	are for the "die-hard" backgammon players.

	5) CHAMPIONSHIP BACKGAMMON by Barclay Cooke & Rene Orlean
	   Through a unique format - a lively, colorful play-by-play
	   study of eight hard-fought duplicate games of the first
	   International Champion Match held in London in October 
	   1973.  By playing along, move by move, you are able to
	   grasp the finer points of the game.

	6) BACKGAMMON WITH THE CHAMPIONS by Kent Goulding
	   Is a major contribution to backgammon literature and picks
	   up where other books leave off.  Comes in two volumes, 
	   each volume contains six matches played between two well-
	   known, world-class backgammon champions.  Each match is
	   taken from a key round of a major tournament and is
	   comprehensively annotated by backgammon expect Kent Goulding.

	   Technical articles on general subjects are interspersed
	   with a format of letters to Miss Lonelyblots, the ever-
	   faithful counselor to the "Dorn-Lorn".  The books are not
	   entirely technical but address the tricky subject of
	   mental attitude of how to approach the game.  In addition,
	   it details many cheating techniques in order to alert the
	   unwary player to these pitfalls.
