I was reading a letter to the editor in the latest issue of Gambling Times on a "craps system" that had appeared in a previous issue that I hadn't seen. The guy who wrote the letter totally flames the guy who wrote the original article, except he agreed with him on one point: Ignore Those Damn Probabilities! I had always more or less figured that probability would pretty accurately model the long term behaviour on the dice; otherwise, there would not be those gorgeous hotels in the middle of a Nevada desert. I assume therefore, that both the author of the original article and the author of the rebuttal letter are basing their claims on the existence of modelling techniques that model shorter ranges on throws of the dice, such a numerical patters, or whatever. Since I once did some modelling of Network Performance using probabilities, I would be interested in applying whatever theories relevant to dice to modelling Network Performance, with the hope of more accurately modelling short range performance. Does anyone out in net.game land have any knowledge of such things? I would be interested Thanks, Joel to know!
