Obviously, I meant Spring 1901 Commentary in my previous article. The Fall move is yet to posted. I have received some interesting comments from participants and others, so let me say a few things about what I am trying to do. Basically, I was trying to stimulate some interest and discussion about this game. I think kibbitzing over a Diplomacy game is about as enjoyable an activity as one can do that involves more than two people. I also meant to time my comments to come out very close to the next move's due date, so as to minimize their impact on the actual game. I didn't do this as well as I could the first time, but will try to do it better in the Fall. I also went a bit overboard criticizing some of the moves, so will tone things down a bit -- even so, the players should remember that they have a lot more information than an observer does, and should not take such comments too seriously. I believe a lively discussion concerning this game will help to stimulate interest in Diplomacy, in general, and perhaps even help this game move along smoothly, too, by raising the level of importance the Net gives the game. Anyway, I stand by my convictions that as the board stands now, Germany and Austria-Hungary are flirting with disaster, while Russia and France have made good, quick starts. Britain has some tough decisions to make, especially after France builds 3. (Will they be fleets or armies???) Not wishing to cause any trouble, just trying to get a little excitement generated, ---> Chuck A DeGaul <---

[ Ex-Lax ] As ~v Thanks for the analysis--I'm enjoying it a lot, and hope you keep it up. Any others are welcome to join the Monday-morning (Summer & Winter?) quarterbacking. My only complaint is that you blew my cover--I was hoping my shot at three builds this Fall would go unnoticed [ :-) ].
