[net.games] SPI information request

Does anyone know if the game "Hof Gap" was ever published in
Strategy & Tactics? And if so, what issue? Also, did SPI ever manage
to finish any more of the Central Front Series after BAOR? Has anyone
played any of these games and if so -- what was you opinion? Also, if
anyone knows a source for SPI games (preferably mail-order), would they
send me the address. I would like to buy a few games before they are
impossible to find anymore.

Hof Gap was never published in S&T, it was only done as a seperate
game. As far as I know TSR has not shown any further interest in the
central front series (I'm not even sure if that was part of the
part of SPI that they got when SPI folded as many of the games
were owned by the developers). Since it has been about
two years since SPI folded your chances of finding a mail order place
that has a good selection is pretty minimal. TSR has however been
printing S&T and putting out some games (most notably the Anteitam
version of the TSS series) so there is always hope of central
front being finished. Although personally I think I could care
less.

	To: James Conley

I concur with Tom H.'s information on Hof Gap by SPI. But I don't
agree with his opinion of the games. I liked the games very much
except for the concept of giving the Warsaw Pact player the optimum
possible scenario of complete surprise and reinforcements availabi-
lity. Although some of the problems of depth of theater, supply,
etc. were to be resolved in later editions of the Central Front
game system, none have been forth coming from whomever retained the
rights to the series. I have toyed with the idea of working out
some of those problems for my own gaming experiments, but I haven't
devoted any time to that project at this time. If you are interested
in exchanging information, ideas, and/or opinions on these or other
similiar games, just send me a note.
