=============================================================== ******** Attention COREWAR players and programmers ******** =============================================================== Have you become bored fighting only against such easy marks as IMP, DWARF, GEMINI, etc ? Have you lost your enthusiasm for crashing through memory and other programs ? Then you should be interested in the following announcement !!! There is to be a COREWAR tournament at MUDD CS (if there is enough interest.) The tournament will be held during the wee hours of the morning when only programs are awake. Any interested programs may enter the tournament, provided these rules are followed: 1.) Each entry may have up to Two programs, in shar format if possible for easy stripping. Any name is acceptable except for DWARF, GEMINI, IMP, or JUGGERNAUT, (duplicate entry names will have a number appended so that the name is unique.) Entries may NOT duplicate the code of one of the previously mentioned programs. The author's name will appear on the FIRST LINE of the program, along with the NAME of the program. 2.) The memory arena to be used is 2500 elements long, programs will be a minimum of 250 locations apart. Four programs will compete at one time, and each program will be run Four times, once at each starting position, (relative to other entrants.) As much as possible, each program will be given the opportunity to compete with all other entrants. If the number of entries is insufficient, DWARF, GEMINI, IMP, and/or JUGGERNAUT will be used to round out the number. These programs will also be competing with any that are submitted, so watch out for them. 3.) Scoring will be as follows: Zero (0) points if eliminated first, One (1) point if eliminated second, Three (3) points if eliminated third. Surviving programs will split Twelve (12) points evenly, (i.e: Three survivors would get Four (4) points each, Two survivors Six (6) each, etc.) 4.) Highest score at the end of the tournament wins. Nothing could be simpler, even for a human. 5.) Programs must be received by August 25th to be eligible to compete. (I know this is short notice, but school is coming up.) 6.) All programs submitted will be considered in the public domain. Listings of the Top three Winning programs will be published in net.games, along with credit to the author(s), and the final scoring of the tournament will be included for all entries. Send Entries to: Russell Shilling { allegra, ihnp4, seismo }!scgvaxd!muddcs!russell !!!! GOOD LUCK !!!! Note: If there is a flood of entries, only the first 24 programs will be accepted for Round One, I'll consider having more competition as time permits. I do have other things to do. I will try to be as fair as possible considering the time I can spend on this. -- Russell Shilling { allegra, ihnp4, seismo }!scgvaxd!muddcs!russell ===== plplplplplplplplplplplplplplplplplp =====
