A group of Boston area ANCIENTS miniature figure game players* are looking for a few more generals. The COURIER magazine is co-sponsoring a national Ancients tournament for 1984/85, with final rounds probably at Origins in Baltimore, June 1985. The organization has local 12 player "heats", each such heat to run its own competition in its own way to choose a champion. Said champions to play in the finals. Players may join more than one heat. Currently, we need a few more players to reach 12. I will suggest a scheme like the British Ancients tournament, with victory being judged by: Wins + 0.5*Draws ---------------- MAX(N, # games played) where N might be 4. Where there would be a max (probably 2?) of how many games with a single opponent can count. If you are interested in the tournament (or even just in learning more about Ancients, please reply to: Mark Swanson 40 Bow St Arlington, MA 02174 (617) 646-6385 ...decvax!genrad!teddy!mas * Ancients miniatures involves using small (1" high or less) miniature soldier models, appropriatly painted and organized, to fight model battles in the pre-gunpowder era. It is one of the few areas of miniature wargaming where there is a dominant set of rules (WRG's Ancients 6th edition), which allows wide competition.
