Does anyone have an idea what the production rules are for the "incant" command? Eg. incant, a ==> jmdbda, incant, b ==> klceea, etc. It seems that the GDT command issues a challange that is based on random generation, and the response appears to be based on the production rule. Also, is the source to Zork public, DECUS, or what??? Thanks - Brian Jones, ATT-CP aka drutx!qwerty

ZORK is a trademark of Infocom. There is a publicly-available FORTRAN rewrite of the original ZORK, called DUNGEON, available from DECUS. One problem with it is that the dungeon database is a binary file, so you have to arrange to read it successfully if you don't have a compatible FORTRAN system. The code also uses DECisms very heavily.
