Does anyone know how to get past the Chest in the Cellar? The one with the horrid little buttons on it? Please mail hints, if not outright spoilers. Thanks. -- Bill Houts (a.k.a. Captain Chaos) Cosmic Color Control tektronix!reed!houts "I claim to be the Kleenex reborn."

I played Sorcerer a couple of months ago, and I, too thought that it was really easy -- it's the first one I (collaborating with my brother) have done without any outside hints. Enchanter was much harder... I hate unfair things like the gallery (I always FROTZ myself), and we couldn't figure out the correct way to get stuff out of the rathole. Yet Enchanter is rated easier than Sorcerer. Are Meretsky's games all easy or what? We got all of Planetfall up to defeating the microbe in one weekend. Is it just because the objects needed for solutions tend to be near the problems or what? Is HHGTTG all that hard? In general, how accurate do people out there think the new rating system is? For those looking for hints, there are a couple ( more than just the chest) on the infotater. That thing's one of the best anti-piracy schemes in years. If anyone's gotten the hint book, could you please post some of the neat tricks listed there? Some that I've found are WEAR FLAG and AIMFIZ HAWKER. Also, if you drink two potions consecutively, strange and fatal things will sometimes happen. Some spell name derivations: AIMFIZ is ZIFMIA backwards -- that's from Enchanter -- and YOMIN is a Vulcan mind probe, of course. My copy also had a thing about bats... I think if you said TAKE BAT it would say "I don't see you here"... something like that. It's been a while, so I cant's remember any others at the moment. Is there any use or joke connected with the waxer? If you know about any funny stuff for this or any other Infocom game, please post it. Infocom games' biggest problem is that there's not much to do after a game is solved. It's a letdown when a $40 game only takes a week to solve.
