[net.games] More Zork questions

pha (08/31/82)

A while back, someone posted how to get past the curtain of light in the
Bank of Zork vault. Earlier I couldn't find the bank (I was playing the
wrong version). Now that I have found the bank, could someone post or send
the answer to me?

Also, I ask you again to please post or send the answer to the Riddle Room.

Thanks for any answers...

To get through the bank, first find the vault (ne,e or nw,w, I think. The
second direction is obvious when you find it). Then, walk south into the
office, north, walk through the curtain, walk through the south wall, walk
through the curtain, take bills, walk through the north wall, go back to the
office, get the portrait, go north, walk back through the curtain, try to go in
all directions and bang all of the walls except the south one, give the
portrait to the gnome that will appear, and out you go. If you don't follow
these instructions exactly, interesting problems will result.

The ridden room is gotten through easily by typing in "well." I've just
started playing again, but I won't play much because on this system the game
uses compat mode and I'm paying for it!

Sorry, but you don't want to give the portrait to the gnome, because it's
a treasure. The trick is to find a way to get both items (the bills and
the portrait) out of the bank. And yes, I'm sure there's a way.

But that's the way it's SUPPOSE to work. You have the portrait as a ZERO point
artifact.

The portrait is most certainly *NOT* a zero point artifact!
You get ten points for just picking it up and I don't know
how many for getting it out and/or putting it in the trophy
case.

for VMS which includes the endgame, I've gotten interested in it again.
I'm glad that someone else asked a question about Zork, because I've
run up against a few problems of my own:

First, where is the stack of 200 zorkmid bills (the only treasure
that I haven't found yet)? Is it in the Vault?

Second, is the small bare room with the Gnome actually the
Vault? If so, what must I do to make the bills appear there?

I think I'm quite close to the endgame, so can anyone give
me a hint as to what to do around the Tomb of the Unknown Implementer?

	Thanks for all your help.

Could be...

No, you are not in the vault if you meet the gnome, and you've wasted
your time if you do.

Wait until you get all the treasures before you ask.
