[net.research] Holography - R&D or use at BTL.

Have friend who works for a large automotive firm interested in
holography for display purposes. Apparently Bell Labs was mentioned
in a National Geographic article and my friend is in charge of
developing a use for holography for display at her company. If anyone
has involvement in this area, please mail to me. I can then put her
in touch with you. Thank you.

There was an article in a journal a couple of weeks ago concerning Cray
computers, a auto make and Holography.

Apparently, they used Cray computers to construct holograms of cars which
were being "mocked up" using a CAD/CAM system. These are then used in place of
clay models for corporate promotions and announcements.

So, you might suggest that they contact someone at Cray for more details if
this is the sort of thing they want to do.

I just came of the Cray User Group meeting in SF. This was discussed
in the graphics session.

The holographic car was done at GM on their Cray. Contact Cray Research
if you are more interested, GM is too big a place to snoop and ask questions.
