[net.research] Research on Jobs for Computer "Engineers"

brett@ucla-cs.UUCP (08/01/85)

According to Spectrum, the demand for technical talent,
as measured by the High Technology Recruitment Index,
is continuing its year-long decline.
...
"The dissappointing performance of the semiconductor
and computer industries and cost-cutting measures instituted
by other high-tech industry employers have obviously
had an impact on hiring activity", observed one Deutsch, Shea
and Evans analyst.

Here is a chart for Computer "Engineers". The left axis is
"percent of firms reporting engineering shortages".

20	xx yy
	xx yy	 cc
10	xx yy	 cc
	xx yy zz cc
0   	xx yy zz cc

xx = 1981
yy = 1982
zz = 1983
cc = 1984

It would be interesting to see the breakdown for degree level
too, but that wasnt included.
